There’s nothing like 60 hours of tap dancing over two weeks by the port city of Barcelona to refresh the system! With flights and shoes sponsored by Glenn Wood Tap, I attended the 5th annual Tap On Barcelona festival, taking classes from Cartier Williams, Sarah Reich and Lee Howard as well as Jérémie Champagne and Thanos Daskalopoulos then attended the jams, concerts and events in various locations througout the city.
When I heard there was a tap intensive the week after with master Roxane Butterfly at the Jimmy Slyde Institute, there was no way I could bear to miss out so I joined the international crew of pro tappers to learn some Eddie Brown routines, Roxane technique and we even joined the master in a performance at the prestigious Palau de la Musica with two incredible local musicians (Bass/’cello- Martí Meléndez, Piano- Adri Gonzalez).
I’m writing an article on the events for Qantas Magazine- which I will post here, as well as producing a couple of little videos, as I just had to share the tap buzz with you. Coming soon! For Paris based readers, mark 4th September in your diaries for the next Paris Tap Jam! Details to come. Oh and Paris Tap Crrew will be busting a time step or two outside Shakespeare & Co after their Beat event on 31st August. More on that soon.
