Recently when in Barcelona for the Tap On Barcelona festival, Franco, a friend and man- about- town invited me to the inauguration of his ex-flatmate’s frozen yoghurt shop in Barceloneta- LIKK. While Ruby TV usually focuses on arts, as the pink cava was flowing owner Dan Burt pointed out with convincing English charm that Barcelona’s first self service frozen yoghurt shop was indeed about creativity.
“We have 30 different toppings and as the customers can add as many toppings as they like in whatever proportions they like, the combinations are endless!” With a base flavour of natural (more coming soon), the fun is in the nuts, fruits, flavours and sweets. “We want customers to enjoy playing around with their own tasty yogurt inventions. ” His personal favourite? “Coconut with chocolate hundreds and thousands.”
“The store is designed to be fun, there’s always uplifting music and a good atmosphere,” continues Dan while popping open another bottle of cava and inviting in expected guests and passing pedestrians for a glass. “We also have a projector and play vids from youtube that we like.”
But what does a frozen yoghurt shop get up to in winter? Hot waffles with natural yogurt or frozen yogurt, fruit and honey sauce. Smoothies. Maybe even churros!
Find LIKK at Pas de Soto Murella 3, Barceloneta, Barcelona. And don’t be shy to ask Dan for a Ruby TV screening while you likk.
