Die Roten Punkte, the ‘punk rock outfit from Berlin’ have taken Edinburgh by storm to sell out audience that have included the likes of Dusty Limits and Amanda Palmer cheering as loud as the rest of the crowd. This act was fresh when I first saw them at the Melbourne Comedy at Trade’s Hall three years ago but already had a buzz and in three years they have created a new show and tightened it to a pinch. Clowns, comedians, musicians and satirists, the artists behind the show know how create strong images, punctuating with play, imbuing with warmth and rocking it out to allow the show to work even without the second degree (which apparently some miss).
It’s a pity they are not up for a large award at this festival as their chances would be strong.
