Several years ago I happily got to know journalist/ astrologer/ New Age writer Yasmin Boland. Both being Australians on our own in the big Paris smoke, we hooked up for the odd meal. Not being much of a star sign reader, I wasn’t aware at the time of the extent of her readership or expertise. But at our tasty but overpriced restaurant adventures, I began to look forward to dessert which woud inevitably be accompanied by a card reading, a chart analysis or the likes. Being in the middle of a theatre masters, I appreciated the ceremony of it. And often a reading would find a theme that struck a chord and ricocheted into my boppy little journey I was on, clarifying certain hazes and inspiring new focus.
Last week I met up with Yasmin in Bondi and had the good timing of it being fan signing day (at home for mail order) for her latest book. I landed one of these and thought some of you Ruby TV readers may like it- it can be read seriously or lightly, meditatively or with a giggle over a drink with friends or a partner. Being the last week of January it’s also the last chance to slip it in as a new year gift!

If you’ve read about the “Law of Attraction” then you already know that thinking positively is the most important thing of all when it comes to creating our own reality. According to ancient mystics and New Age teachers it’s our thoughts, and more importantly our emotions, which shape our lives. So if you secretly think you’re going to win the lottery, if you really believe it deep down, you will. Or if you think “I never win anything, my life is screwed, it’s just pointless…” well, you can imagine that’s not going to get you very far! This week, there’s an undeniably tense link between Mercury and Saturn mid-week – it’s going to make it a challenge to us all regardless of our Star sign, to stay positive. Wrangles over agreements and contracts can arise and there’s a sense that a lot of people are going to be expecting the worst rather than the best. But forewarned is forearmed! Don’t let the negativity get to you! And if you find yourself in the company of someone who’s throwing negative energy your way? Throw a bubble of white light around yourself (just picture it in your mind’s eye) and get out of their space as soon as you can!
