After taking her chorey and impro classes at Tap On Barcelona festival 2008, I was invited by tap dancing icon Roxane Butterfly to return to Geneva via Toulon and stay a few days at her family home in the centre of town. Noting she was equipped with camescope, I took the opportunity to do a series of casual interviews while following her around the local markets and patisseries, past her high school where she created her first tap teaching gig and to a family friend’s birthday celebration where she performed with the band…
Here are some excerpts that find Roxane talking about what she learnt from the legendary Jimmy Slyde, her integration into the world of Flamenco and being French…
Roxane will be teaching a Jimmy Slyde masterclass at Tap On Barcelona 2009. I hope to be there.
